Just when you thought you were getting the hang of health in 2018, the health police have done it again. Not content with acai berry bowls, animal yoga, intermittent fasting and green living, the wellness industry has been revamped for 2019 with another cleansing makeover. So, in the spirit of the “New Year, New You”, let’s take a look at some of the health fads and crazes that have been trending on Pinterest, and are tipped to blow up in 2019:
Elderberries
Though elderberry has taken more of a back seat in the health industry in recent years, the super-berry has recently gained it’s status as the ultimate flu-fighter. Whilst many health conscious warriors are always on the lookout for natural alternatives to fight the flu, elderberry is packed with anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory and flu-fighting nutrients. So searches for elderberry recipes have been on the rise, and elderberry syrup and infused teas have already been flying off the shelves.
Bakuchiol
Good news for sensitive skin! Skin-care formulas are about to get a little kinder and a lot less irritating. Most skin-care products are formulated with the Vitamin A extract retinol, to help boost collagen and minimize wrinkles. However bakuchiol, which is extracted from the bakuchi seed, is fast taking its place as the natural, gentler and vegan alternative choice. In fact, skin buffs are opting for facial oils that combine bakuchiol with products like buckthorn berry, rosehip and sweet almond oils to hydrate and boost collagen production naturally.
Matcha Green Tea
Matcha Green Tea started to blow up in 2018, but the super green hero is poised for world domination in 2019. Matcha is not only a natural caffiene choice, it also boosts memory and concentration and energy. It’s also bursting with catechin anti-oxidants, is heart-healthy and immune and skin boosting. You can now find matcha green tea lattes in most coffee shops or buy it in powder form to boost your smoothies or juices with super hero powers.
Sleep Logs
While most people were content with being constantly overtired in 2017, in 2018 the searches for sleep optimization was on the rise. In 2019, this trend is set to blow up further and you might feel like the black sheep of your social circle if you don’t download a sleep app to help keep track of your sleeping habits. Well at least you might finally get some more sleep in 2019!
